Software installation

Mac OS X
1.	Start up your computer normally. Insert the Kick-off! CD (or open the disk image you downloaded).
2.	Copy the folder labelled "Kick-off! for Mac OS X" to your hard disk. You may place the files in any location you choose, such as the Applications folder.
3.	From this folder, open the "Kick-off!" control panel application. A dialog box will appear asking if you wish to install the background software.
4.	Click "Install" (or "Update" if a previous version was already installed). The background software will be installed and your Kick-off! will begin functioning. No restart will be necessary.

Mac OS 8.6-9.x
1.	Start up your computer normally. A dialog box may appear asking if you wish to search for drivers for Kick-off! Click the "Cancel" button.
2.	Insert the Kick-off! CD and double-click the icon labelled "Kick-off! 1.5 for Mac OS 9". The Installer window will open.
3.	Click "Install". The Installer will ask if it can quit any open applications before it begins. Make sure you don't have any unsaved documents, then click "Continue". When the installation is complete, the Installer will restart your computer.

Configuration

To use Kick-off!'s system crash recovery features, you must configure your Energy Saver control panel to restart after a power failure.

Mac OS X
From the Apple menu, select "System Preferences..." Click the "Energy Saver" icon. Click the "Options" tab. Check the "Restart automatically after a power failure" box.

Mac OS 9.1-9.x
From the Apple menu, select "Control Panels -> Energy Saver". Click the "Advanced Settings" tab. Check the "Restart automatically after a power failure" box.

Mac OS 8.6-9.0.x
From the Apple menu, select "Control Panels -> Energy Saver". Select "Server Settings..." from the "Preferences" menu. Check the "Restart automatically after a power failure" box.
