Creating monitors

To create a monitor, click the "New Monitor" button. To edit an existing monitor, select it in the list and click the "Edit" button. The Monitor Editor sheet will appear:

• Monitor Name: This is the name that appears in the left column of the main window's list.
• Server Address: This is the IP address of the service you're monitoring. Click the "Change..." button to change this value.

The IP address is normally set to "127.0.0.1", which is a special IP address that always refers to the computer itself. You should only need to change this if your computer has multiple IP addresses, or your service runs "virtual servers" or is running on a non-standard port. • Service Type: When you select an item from this pop-up menu, the Monitor Options section changes to reflect the current type. See Types of monitors for more information.
• Click the "Test These Settings" button to test your monitor settings. See Testing monitors for more information.
